Last Load is the first print in Always Open — a series of six limited edition illustrations exploring the quiet life of everyday spaces. Familiar places, temporarily empty. The feeling of someone just stepped out, or just about to arrive.
 
A launderette, somewhere. Evening. The washing machine marked out of service has become a shelf — a neat pile of folded clothes sitting on top. A wash basket overflows on the floor. Boxes of powder, a bottle of fabric conditioner. A cash machine for breaking your notes. And on the counter, a takeaway coffee, visibly steaming. Just placed down. Someone was just here.
The window above is open. Night air coming in. The last load is nearly done.
